Karen leads with a beautiful, sincere faith and brings a determined passion to her role here.

We asked her a few questions to get to know her a bit more…

Q: Why do you enjoy working at Menno Place?

A: I love working here because I can visibly live my faith and values in my workplace. I love the opportunity to serve the seniors, their family members and the staff in an environment where the heart of the Lord is at the heart of our work. We have the pleasure of journeying with people at the most vulnerable time in their lives. I love their stories and walking with them at the end of life.

Q: What is the most important lesson you’ve learned in the last year?

A: The most important lesson I learned this year was the importance and effectiveness of working with elected officials and Ministry of Health representatives to ensure they are aware of issues impacting our care sector.

Q: Who knows you best in the whole world?

A: My best friend.

Q: List four adjectives that person would use to describe you.

A: Loyal

Q: What do you listen to in the car?

A: JR FM – I love country music. 1130 – for the traffic report!!

Q: Do you collect anything?

A: I collect shells everywhere I go as they are God’s handiwork and no two are the same!

Q: What is your favorite family recipe?

I love my mom’s unbaked cherry cheesecake recipe.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?

A: I have always dreamed of going to Belize. I love the sun and sand.

Q: How do you recharge?

A: I paddle a dragon boat with 20 of my favorite friends at least 3 times a week.

Q: What’s the last book you read?

A: I have been reading “Wisdom for Women”, a study of Proverbs.
