Hilde Wiebe – Executive Director of Care Services
Hilde is our Executive Director of Care Services. From the outset of her nursing career, her focus and energies have been directed towards care for seniors. She has served in the capacity of general duty nurse, nurse manager, Director of Care and Director of Resident Programs in residential care facilities within Fraser Health. She believes deeply in the importance of competent and caring staff and works to support all of our care staff.

Q: What training did you receive that helps you in your job at Menno Place?
A: I started with my Certified Nursing Aide Diploma from Alberta Vocational Center, an RN Diploma from Lethbridge Community College, Operating Room Nursing Certificate BCIT, Nursing Management Certificate from University College of Fraser Valley and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Victoria.
Q: What did you want to be when you were a child?
A: A wife, mother, and teacher!
Q: What was your first job?
A: My first job was in housekeeping in my home town Hospital in Alberta. It was a small Hospital and I started working in the summer months after grade 11 for $1.49 an hour.
Q: What is the best piece of advice you ever received?
A: My father was my model. He was a kind, gentle and loving father who gave me good advice that has carried me through my life and one which I’ve tried to pass on to my children: “Never give up”.
Q: What is your favourite thing about working at Menno Place?
A: At Menno Place, I feel a strong alignment between my personal values and the organization’s values. I am proud that the mission and culture of this organization has a strong commitment to serving our residents and their families. I love working with my teams to build strong relationships that create a cohesive team.
Q: What’s your favourite vacation memory?
A: I enjoy traveling with my family and friends. I’ve had many wonderful holidays with my husband and daughters – traveling in the Yukon, Canada, USA, and Europe. We also have two sets of friends who share our love of traveling and so we’ve have many holidays together in Europe, Canada and Jamaica.
