We are frequently asked if we would accept a piano as a donation. If you are interested in donating your piano, here are the steps that ensure that Menno Place is receiving excellent high-quality pianos for our residents, staff and visitor’s enjoyment:
Menno Place will consider a piano donation upon assessment of the need for a piano donation and the donor’s participation in ensuring that the piano will be in excellent condition for the enjoyment of Menno Place residents and musicians.
Please ensure:
- The pinao you wish to donate is in very good to excellent condition with no repairs necessary.
- A current, written inspection done by professional piano tuner/repair company is provided in writing to Menno Place.
- An opportunity for Menno Place to inspect and play the piano prior to receiving the donation to assess the quality of the piano. If this is not possible, a video of the piano and/or photos must be provided.
- All costs for moving the piano to Menno Place are covered by the donor.
- If, upon arrival, the piano fails to meet the quality required for enjoyment at Menno Place as determined by Menno Place staff, musicians and residents, the donor will cover either the cost of repairs or the cost of removal and/or disposal of the piano from Menno Place. The course of action will be determined by Menno Place.
- Menno Place welcomes an additional donation to cover the cost of tuning the piano upon its arrival at Menno Place.
- Once a piano has been approved and donated, the donor may request a charitable tax receipt for the value of the piano. Menno Place can issue a charitable tax receipt with a written third-party assessment of value.
Thank you for your generous consideration of donating your piano to Menno Place for the enjoyment of the residents, staff and families. Music brings great joy and many of our residents are talented pianists who bring joy to others through their musical skill and talent.
