Christmas invites us to think about home, a place shaped by warmth, familiarity, and gentle care. At Menno Place, residents experience this every day through the calm, dignified support our staff provide during essential daily transfers.

Thanks to the generosity of friends and supporters like you, our Giving Tuesday appeal helped us fund three new lifts. Our total need for 2026 is eleven lifts, with eight still to be funded. At $15,652 per lift (total $125,216), donor support continues to play a key role in helping us meet this essential need.

FAQs

Why are new lifts needed? Many of our current lifts are aging. Replacing them ensures safe, comfortable support for residents and protects staff from injury.
Why this lift? The Arjo Maxi Move 5 is a trusted, multi-use lift staff rely on every day for safe, ergonomic transfers. More information as well as videos can be found HERE.
Is there a giving deadline? Gifts can be made at any time. Donations now support timely equipment planning and replacement.
What if donations exceed the cost? Additional gifts go toward Menno Place’s highest-priority equipment needs.
What if the full amount isn’t raised? Menno Place will continue seeking support until all essential lifts are funded.
Will I receive a tax receipt? Yes. Donations of $20 or more are eligible.

If, in the opinion of MBS, it should become no longer practical or possible to use this gift for the specified purpose, (for example, if the program to which it relates is restructured or discontinued), MBS will seek the written consent of the donor (or family, if applicable) to redirect the gift to a new purpose. If the donor cannot be traced, MBS will direct the gift towards a new purpose that is, in their opinion, as close as possible to the original intent of the donor. The support provided by the redirected gift will continue to be identified with the donor.
