Piano Donations
Thank you for your interest in donating a piano to Menno Place.
We occasionally accept piano donations when there is a current need on campus and the instrument is in excellent condition. Because tuning and maintenance costs are high, and not all of our pianos are actively used, we carefully assess each offer based on musical need and available space.
We are currently reviewing whether additional pianos are needed. If you would like to be considered once a need is confirmed, please read the information below and contact us with details about your piano.
Menno Place will consider accepting a piano donation after evaluating the need for one and confirming that the donor will help ensure the piano is in excellent condition for the residents and musicians to enjoy.
The procedure for a piano donation is as follows:
-
Initial Inquiry
Contact the Advancement Office at advancement@mennoplace.ca with details about your piano, including the type, make, model, age, and overall condition. We will review your submission and let you know if your piano may meet a current need on campus. If there is potential interest, you will be invited to proceed to Step 2. -
Piano Requirements
The piano must be in very good to excellent condition and require no repairs. All donated pianos must pass a professional inspection conducted by Gerard Doppenberg (doppenberg.ca). The donor is responsible for arranging and covering the cost of the inspection (approximately $175 plus tax). If the piano passes and is accepted, the inspection documentation may qualify the donor to receive a charitable tax receipt for its appraised value. -
Moving Costs
The donor is responsible for all costs related to moving the piano. -
Optional Tuning Donation
Menno Place gratefully welcomes an additional donation to help cover the cost of tuning the piano once it has arrived on campus.
If you have any questions, please call our Advancement Coordinator: 604.851.3102
