For the 10th Year Hundreds Gather at Menno Place to Celebrate Grandparents Day

Since 2015 Menno Place has marked Grandparents Day with a day of fun designed so our residents can host even their youngest relatives with ease. Evelyn, who lives in Menno Apartments said, “It’s wonderful. It’s amazing! I have six great-grandchildren here today.” Another resident, Merv, had 30 descendants come to enjoy the day with him!

From cotton candy and giant bubbles to a bouncy castle, face-painting, live entertainment, great food — and even kid-friendly ax throwing —  there’s something for everyone. One visitor noted, “This is such a great event. I can’t believe all the smiles that I see on all the Grandmas and Grandpas and all the kids having fun. Fantastic!”

Another mom commented on how impressed she was saying, “I’ve got my two and a half year old here and there’s so much for him to do. He’s running around and I feel so safe with him here. This is such a great way to celebrate with your family.”

We were delighted to have a team of 14 volunteers from RBC come for the first time to help out with the celebrations. “This is a passion of ours to make sure that we’re part of the community, representing because it’s important to do that as human beings,” said Kelly Ferrari one of the RBC volunteers.  “Walking in it’s just amazing to see all of the activities. Jaw-dropping actually to see how everyone is having such a good time.”

Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with us and to the staff and volunteers who made this day possible. We’re already excited about next year.
