Menno Place Remembers 2026
The blue skies and sunshine set a perfect scene for this year’s Annual Memorial and Butterfly Release events. Thank you to everyone who joined us on June 12th. You packed the chapel and filled the courtyard and we were delighted to host you.
The day began with the Annual Memorial where family, friends, and staff gathered to honour 162 members of our community who passed in the last year. We named them one by one, and together, we remembered. At the end of the service two vases filled with stones baring the name of each person were carried out to the courtyard and added to the fountain.
They day continued in the courtyard with the Butterfly Release – one of the most beautiful events of the year. We were joined by special guests City Councillors Les Barkman and Simon Gibson and two of our MLAs – Harman Bhangu and Bruce Banman. Thank you for taking the time to be with us. After a short program the butterflies were released. Some of the butterflies stopped to sip from orange slices while others headed straight into the sky or landed on flowers in the garden. It was a joyful remembering.
