Local Musicians Delight Residents With Live Concert

Experiencing live music provokes memory, sparks joy, inspires movement and creates community. It is a vital piece of the care we provide at Menno Place. On August 25th it was our please to host Dr. Calvin Dyck and Carmen Fast Hollett as they performed a concert of church favourites and classical pieces to the delight of our residents.

In addition to being a concert violinist, composer, and conductor, Dr. Dyck is a longstanding friend of Menno Place. During the pandemic he brought musicians to play outdoor concerts for our residents who sat safely distant on their balconies to listen. It was a much needed bright spot in the dark days of March 2020.

We are so fortunate in Abbotsford to have people like Dr. Dyck and Carmen Hollett who care deeply about our seniors and take time from busy schedules to volunteer and share their talents. You could see the appreciation on the faces of the residents and hear it in their enthusiastic applause. Thank you for helping us ensure that music is part of every resident’s experience.
